Limitation by definition: a limiting rule or circumstance; a restriction
We have all, at one time or another, been told that we could not do something. Most of the time, it was things like, “Sorry, but you’re not smart enough to do that, you’re not strong enough, or you’re not fast enough.” It is, most of the time, these measurable limitations that we constantly hear about. Limitations with a specific number, or a specific grade attached.
Limitations which only reflect what can be noted, measured, or written down on a piece of paper. Measurables. Nothing more than that.
But what about when the limitation is much more than just something that we have the power and ability to overcome and change? In other words, a non-measurable.
Think about it. We can make ourselves smarter by studying and learning. We can make ourselves stronger by lifting weights and working out. We can make ourselves faster by practicing our running, and working on our form.
But, what about those limitations that we cannot just practice/work on/or improve on, in order to be successful. Something like non-functioning chemical receptors in our brain, blocking certain impulses that don’t allow us to become smarter. Having muscles that can’t synthesize proteins to allow our muscles to grow, and in turn become stronger. Having feet that naturally point outward like a duck’s, not allowing us to be faster.
What about those limitations?
Let’s look at the Bumble Bee. According to the world’s smartest scientists, and the world’s foremost specialists in the area of aerodynamics, the Bumble Bee is not physically capable of flying. According to every study known to man, and from creating every possible test situation within our power, the results are these:
The Bumble Bee’s body is too heavy, combined with a wing span that is considerably too small, in order to allow it to take flight.
The problem…No one ever told the Bumble Bee that.
